I've been living in Hildesheim for three years. I now live with three other people and a cat in the Mitte neighbourhood. I'm studying media, doing documentary film projects and small tech jobs on the side. I have experienced time and again in my own surrounding the chain reactions triggered by housing insecurity. I think that when people talk about this topic, they often lose sight of the fact that a person's experience with their living space can not only have a direct impact in the moment, but often has a long-lasting effect and leaves its mark.
Housing is under particularly strong pressure due to the general price increases that are currently also being felt in Hildesheim. Factors such as the progression of the climate crisis will exacerbate this problem in the future. For the exhibition, I hope that the people who speak in the videos will be listened to for longer when they talk about their experiences with their own housing environment. And I hope that people will take away new perspectives on the topic from the supporting program.

I am an interdisciplinary artist. During my time in Syria, I was already involved in various theatre productions and was particularly concerned with Assyrian folk dances as a theatrical medium. In my visual, musical and filmic works, human experiences, memories and emotions are always in the foreground. I fled to Turkey in 2013 and two years later, in 2015, to Germany. Since 2015, I have been working for the documentary theatre company "Das letzte Kleinod". Since 2020, I have been studying scenic arts at the University of Hildesheim.

I come from the theatre/performance sector and live with a chronic illness, fifteen years of which in shared flats, in ever-changing constellations of people with different life realities. Based on the astonished reactions of some new flatmates with comparatively stable circumstances (e.g. financially, health), I have become very aware of how little visible life realities are in which living conditions and needs diverge.

I study cultural studies with theatre and media in Hildesheim and have lived in three shared flats after moving out of home four years ago. My first flat-share was a 10-person flat-share. Now I live in a flat-share with four friends and am very happy with it. I know how it feels to be alone and isolated when living together, but also how nice it can be when it fits well.
ALL AROUND AWARENESS
Awarenessarbeit bei den Veranstaltungen und Öffnungszeiten

ALL AROUND AWARENESS Awareness work during events and opening hours. All Around Awareness (AAA)* is committed to a tolerant, attentive and respectful coexistence.
Our aim is to use the concept of "Awareness" to raise awareness of all forms of discrimination
(racism, sexism, queer hostility, etc.).
On this basis, we strive to create supportive, more sensitive environments in which everyone can feel comfortable and safe.
In a sense, we are a "safer space" by being a listening ear
and being there for those who seek help.
